Nominee for Virginia Governor Supports Marijuana Decriminalization

Marijuana VA

Cliff Hyra was nominated by the Libertarian Party to run for Governor of Virginia. Hyra advocates for tax cuts and regulatory cuts. His priorities are similar to President Trump’s in those respects.

Hyra also supports decriminalizing marijuana, Bacon’s Rebellion reports. He doesn’t think that 35,000 to 40,000 people should be arrested annually for “victimless drug crimes”. He has a few hurdles to cross before seeing his name on ballots this year.

To qualify as a candidate, Hyra must collect 10,000 registered voters’ signatures. This means he needs at least 400 from each congressional district by the June 10 deadline.

Chairman of the Libertarian Party of Virginia, Bo Brow, says that 7,000 signatures have already been submitted to the State Board of Elections.
