NORML scores state governors based upon their marijuana policies. Governor Northam scored rather high with a B-. Northam is a doctor, and recognizes the benefits of marijuana.
Northam’s grade is impressive according to NORML’s standards as more than half received passing grades, according to WWBT 12 News. Three-quarters of Virginians support decriminalizing marijuana, a February poll showed. Northam is also in favor of decriminalization.
The governor has made efforts to show that he is on-par with the citizens of Virginia, which may have also played a role in his high grade.
Northam said previously, that, “As a doctor, I’m becoming increasingly convinced by the data showing potential health benefits of marijuana, such as pain relief, drug-resistant epilepsy, and treatment of PTSD.”
